IL BEL FAR NIENTE...

Soon my little "sabbatical" will end...not by choice but more by necessity. I haven't been out much lately...everyone's been asking what the hell is going on as I'm usually quite the "busy bee"... always going somewhere and doing something...if not errands then shopping, if not shopping then meeting friends, if not that then creating errands or simply on walkabouts :) just never really sitting in one place.

Nothing has happened with my friends neither have they stopped wanting to see me. But with the recent events in my life, I have learnt how to "slow down" a bit...and not just by letting go of the need to be doing something all the time, but also learning how to do nothing even if I'm out somewhere. I guess I've always been the kind of person who was always chasing over something or causing some kind of unnecessary drama in her life or stressing over something or more than usual OCD-ing over something...so much so that I lost sight of enjoying the present moment...to be completely lost in enjoyment of appreciating the pleasure of what was going on at that particular time...am I making any sense? I'm finally learning how to do nothing!!! As the Italians say it..."il bel far niente"

So here I am not stressing about having no plans, or rather making no plans. When someone asks "What are you up to today?" the answer is "nothing" or "no plans" :))))))))))))))))))) I like that answer. Soon when I am back at work, I will have to follow a schedule...yes my job revolves around transitions, routines and a schedule...so I am going to be enjoying "il bel far niente" as long it lasts. The only plan I've made for the week is to go to Ikea (because I have to) and a trip to Sentosa...to what? ABSOLUTELY NIENTE! NOTHING AT ALL...I can already smell the bliss in that :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

MAD, MAD WORLD...

I'm having a day where I don't understand why the stuff that happens, happens in this world...or rather MY WORLD!!!

In my profile info, I mentioned that I generally like all kinds of music, especially something that suits my many moods. This is my song for a day when I feel like I'm having to face the mad, mad world. Its aptly titled 'Mad World', performed by Gary Jules, a singer-songwriter from California. His is actually a cover of the Tears For Fears version. Some of you may remember the song from American Idol. Adam Lambert performed a chilling version of it.

I first heard this song in the movie Donnie Darko from way back in 2001. During the presidential election of 1988, a teenager named Donnie Darko (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) sleepwalks out of his house one night, and sees a giant, demonic-looking rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world will end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds. He returns home the next morning to find that a jet engine has crashed through his bedroom. As he tries to figure out why he survived and tries to deal with people in his town, like the school bully, his conservative health teacher, and a self-help guru, Frank continues to turn up in Donnie's mind, causing him to commit acts of vandalism and worse. It was a slightly odd movie (a cult phenomenon) but that's whats so fascinating about it!

THE DAY AFTER

Day 2 of my blogging experience...ok so I have no followers...YET! Yes, yes a bit ambitious I know.

I spent most of my day in front of the computer looking at other people's blogsites (and as expected, ended up reading too many food reviews, and added them onto My Blog List) for inspiration, motivation...just for fun? At some sites I felt a bit like a voyeur, considering the pictures that were on some of them. I'm no prude neither am I too modest, but there is clearly some major self-love going on in some of those blogsites. It was all very entertaining though..and kept me rooted to the computer for hours!!!

So anyway, I spent a fair bit of time looking at, (if not gazing at with mouth wide open) the blogsite of the "famous" Xia Xue aka Wendy Cheng...I just cannot get over the fact of how blonde she is!!! Is it just me who thinks so??? And her choice of language...well I guess it's the "American in her". Ok, enough said...otherwise I might be slammed.

As I'm writing this, I'm doing a countdown to watching Prison Break at 10pm...it will be the last time I savour (yes savour) watching Wentworth Miller play the role of Michael Scofield...yes I've read all the spoilers and have known for some time what the ending will be like...but still a Wentworth moment is a Wentworth moment :)))))))))))

I'm in a bit of a mood today...apart from the blogsite viewing, I've also been watching videos on YouTube and analyzing lyrics of songs...may post them a little later.
